Hi there! Today I’d love to talk about some of my favorite character meals in Disney World. These are in and outside of the actual parks, and can make a great touch of magic for a day outside of the theme parks. I’d like to start by mentioning that I haven’t been able to visit every spot like Trattoria Al Forno, Akershus, and a few more, so if they beat any of my list, I apologize!
I visited Garden Grill last summer in Epcot. This is one of the few spots in Disney World that allows you early access into the park gates if you have early enough breakfast reservations. Here you can meet Chip, Dale, Mickey and Pluto in adorable farmer outfits! Garden Grill is unique because the round platform in which the tables are located rotates-very slowly-around Living with the Land. You can see the gorgeous sets within the ride. The food is similar to breakfast at Ohana, in that it is an all you can eat skillet that can be altered to vegan or vegetarian tastes. I adore this spot, and if you finish around Epcot’s opening, you can be one of the first to run over to Soarin’!
This is truly one of the best spots to eat in Disney. I have only visited here, as will Garden Grill, for breakfast, but I adore it. You can meet Lilo, Stitch and Mickey, as well as Pluto after your meal in his own photo spot. You can also snag some delicious POG juice and Stitch waffles in addition to the classic Mickey ones! The Ohana is a quintessential piece of the Polynesian’s Hawaiian theming, and has beautiful views of the pool.
I typically visit here for breakfast as well. An early morning character breakfast is an awesome way to start a magical day! This is a buffet style restaurant, and allows you to meet Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto and Goofy! The buffet has tons of options for each diet, I always recommend trying the cheesy potatoes! I also adore unlimited Mickey waffles that you can cover with any topping of your choice.
One of the newest character dining spots, the Riviera hotel offers a fancy character breakfast with Minnie, Mickey, Donald and Daisy all in the cutest artist and performer looks! Meeting Mickey in a painting smock was a highlight for me! I also adore the food and atmosphere here. The restaurant is simply beautiful and fits in perfectly with the resort. They offer some great pastries to start but don’t fill up! The sour cream waffles are to die for, and can include real or plant based sausage to accompany it.
Hollywood and Vine
This is a buffet in Hollywood Studios, and one of the only spots we get character dining for a non-breakfast meal. It is great because you can meet Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, AND Goofy! They dress for the season you’re visiting, and spend a lot of time with you. I really love stopping here to sit and get some air conditioning during a day at Hollywood Studios. Granted, Docking Bay 7 is also a phenomenal lunch choice, but for some classic characters, this is a great choice.
Lastly, I’d like to compliment Crystal Palace in Magic Kingdom. I haven’t visited in a LONG time, so I can’t confirm if the food is great, but the atmosphere is beautiful and this is one of the only spots with all four of the main Pooh characters! You can see Pooh, Piglet, Tigger and Eeyore, which are some of my favorite characters to meet because they’re so soft and cozy to hug!
Thank you so much for checking out my picks! I hope you can eat with some of your favorite Disney buddies soon!
